THE FUNDAMENTALS OF MICRONUTRITION
Three micronutrients. Complementary functions.
Magnesium
Muscle function, nervous system and energy metabolism
Magnesium is involved in many physiological processes. Its role is not limited to physical activity: it contributes to the normal functioning of the body, both at rest and during exercise.
Its recognized functions:
Muscle function: contributes to normal muscle function.
Nervous system: contributes to the normal functioning of the nervous system.
Energy metabolism: contributes to normal energy metabolism.
Reduction of tiredness: contributes to the reduction of tiredness.
Electrolyte balance: contributes to electrolyte balance.
Protein synthesis: contributes to normal protein synthesis.
Magnesium therefore contributes to several functions that are essential to the physiological balance of active people. It is not a stimulant: its role is to contribute to the normal functioning of the body.
Zinc
Protein synthesis and cellular protection
Zinc is an essential trace element for many biological functions. It plays a role in protein synthesis, immune function, and protecting cells against oxidative stress.
Its recognized functions:
Protein synthesis: contributes to normal protein synthesis.
Cellular protection: helps protect cells against oxidative stress.
Immune function: contributes to the normal function of the immune system.
Hormonal balance: contributes to the maintenance of normal testosterone levels in the blood.
Zinc contributes to the maintenance of normal physiological functions. However, maintaining normal testosterone levels does not mean that supplementation increases these levels in someone whose intake is already sufficient.
Vitamin B6
Protein and glycogen metabolism
Vitamin B6 is involved in several metabolic processes. It complements the combination of magnesium and zinc through its contributions to nutrient metabolism, nervous system function and the reduction of fatigue.
Its recognized functions:
Protein and glycogen metabolism: contributes to their normal metabolism.
Energy metabolism: contributes to normal energy metabolism.
Reduction of fatigue: helps reduce fatigue.
Nervous system: contributes to the normal functioning of the nervous system.
Immune function: contributes to the normal functioning of the immune system.
These functions make vitamin B6 a complementary micronutrient in a holistic approach to nutritional balance.
THE
LÜM APPROACH
✦ ✦ ✦ ✦
Precision-based
micronutrition
01
Selecting shapes
Prioritize forms of micronutrients selected for their value in the formulation, with a clearly identified composition.
02
The consistency of contributions
Assess the amounts of each nutrient against the reference intake values and the needs the product is intended to meet.
03
Scientific transparency
Distinguish recognized physiological functions from clinical effects that require specific studies. An authorized claim for a nutrient does not, on its own, constitute proof of the effectiveness of the complete formula.
LÜM APEX
Three micronutrients brought together in a carefully formulated blend.
APEX combines magnesium bisglycinate, zinc bisglycinate, and vitamin B6 in the form of pyridoxal-5-phosphate (P-5-P).
This combination brings together three micronutrients involved in complementary physiological functions: muscle function, nervous system activity, energy metabolism, and protein metabolism.
The formula’s composition
MAGNESIUM BISGLYCINATE: A form of magnesium selected for the APEX formula, central to muscle, nerve, and energy-related functions.
ZINC BISGLYCINATE: A form of zinc included in the formula to contribute, among other things, to normal protein synthesis and the maintenance of normal testosterone levels in the blood.
VITAMIN B6 — P-5-P: A form of vitamin B6 that contributes, among other things, to normal protein and glycogen metabolism, as well as the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
A stimulant-free approach
APEX contains no added caffeine. Its formulation is based on micronutrients and their physiological functions, rather than on immediate stimulation. Designed to support everyday nutritional needs, the formula is part of a holistic approach that combines a balanced diet, physical activity, and appropriate recovery.

RESEARCH &
SCIENTIFIC DATA
Studies to better understand. A science-based approach, without unnecessary promises.
✦ Study 1
Magnesium bisglycinate and sleep quality
2025 · Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial
155 adults reporting poor sleep quality participated in a study evaluating daily supplementation with 250 mg of elemental magnesium in the form of bisglycinate for four weeks.
The supplemented group showed a slightly greater improvement in insomnia severity scores than the placebo group. The observed effect was small; no significant differences were found in the other psychological outcomes assessed.
Key takeaway
This study provides data on magnesium bisglycinate and certain sleep parameters. It does not allow us to conclude that the effects are the same for everyone or to demonstrate the effectiveness of APEX as a complete formula.
✦ Study 2
ZMA and Training Adaptations
2004 · Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial
42 men trained in weightlifting followed a training program for eight weeks, with ZMA or placebo supplementation.
The researchers observed no significant differences between the groups in hormonal markers, body composition, measured strength, or anaerobic capacity.
Key takeaway
This study does not confirm that ZMA consistently improves strength, muscle mass, or hormonal markers in athletes who are already trained.
THE FUNDAMENTALS REMAIN ESSENTIAL
Micronutrition is part of a global balance.
Sustainable sports practice relies on several complementary pillars:
NUTRITION
A varied and balanced diet forms the foundation of nutritional intake.
TRAINING
Consistency, progression, and adapting the workload are essential for a practice consistent with one's goals.
REST
Sleep and rest periods contribute to general balance and adaptation to physical activity.
MICRONUTRITION
Food supplements can contribute to nutritional intake when relevant, without replacing the fundamentals.
At LÜM, we advocate for a rational approach to supplementation: selecting with high standards, formulating with precision, and communicating without confusing the physiological roles of nutrients with promises of performance.
OUR CONVICTION
Precision over promises.
Micronutrition deserves better than marketing shortcuts. Understanding nutrients, evaluating available data, and choosing coherent formulations: this level of rigor guides the LÜM approach.
LÜM — Natural elegance, reinvented.
